March 2015

The Aille River Hostel & team are up and running for the 2015 season!
We would like to thank all of our guests over the years for their kind
words and support and we would also like to wish them well on the
future travels wherever they may be :)

We are extremely excited about this coming season and we look forward
to meeting new folks from all walks of life as well as the familiar
faces making their return to their home away from home! Our doors are
always open to you :)

As always, the hostel has gone through a few subtle, yet noticeable,
changes for this season: the seats in the common area have been
re-upholstered with a very comfortable finish, making the fire-side
seating even more inviting than before! Come and check it out for
yourselves ;)

Already the season looks to be getting off to a great start with lots
of people around, taking full advantage of the sunny spring days we
have been getting! We can only hope that it just keeps getting better
and better! Fingers crossed we get another amazing summer to follow
this beautiful spring :) Either way, we will be sure to be fully
stocked up on peat for the always hungry stove fire to warm you all up
in the evenings!

From all of us here at The Aille River Hostel we hope that you too
have a great 2015 and who knows, maybe we will see you during this
season :)

Happy travels!

November 2014

The last of the blackberries are still hanging on the brambles, their sweet juicy flesh a reminder of the long warm days of summer not so long ago, but already a distant memory.

The Hostel is still decorated for Halloween, the tables laden with fruits and nuts and there's still soup in the huge pot for all guests to share. The (other) Europeans are surprised by the importance of Halloween in the Irish household.  I am impressed by the comercial side of it that aims to swallow us all.

Autumn is in now, there's no doubt about it. Nature is beautiful in its shades of red and orange and yellow as trees and plants prepare for their annual wintery rest.

The Aille river is flowing again with the abundance of rain the last few days and I wonder how are the Dippers faring in their nest under the bridge.

White-throated Dipper

And they're all starting to talk about Christmas.... the image that keeps popping into my head is of Santa surfing along the Wild Atlantic Way.. Imagine that!                                               Happy November!
